Technical Instructor | Rochester Hills, MI | Long-Term Contract


The Instructor will be responsible for presenting technical training programs to customers, and distributors. The ideal candidate is an energetic, customer-focused, and technically inclined person with a background in manufacturing or automation and the ability to effectively train, present, and communicate; someone who eager to learn new technical and troubleshooting skills, that they can then use to train others. This position requires proven excellent oral and written communication skills.


Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Teach curriculum, the classes will contain the following:
  • Power Point Presentations with Objectives and tasks
  • Detailed Instructor outlines
  • Student outlines
  • Objective based exercises
  • Pre-test and post test
  • Use of robots, simulators or machine tools
  • Report discrepancies between product and documentation to appropriate departments
  • Suggest improvements to the class curriculum.
  • Prepare and maintain classrooms, training simulators and laboratory and the training office area to
  • ensure a “Best in Class” training experience for the students.
  • Provide feedback to improve employee culture and customer experience.
  • Provide support to customers and departments by answering technical questions and advising
  • appropriate action to resolve a problem.
  • Interface with other technical writers and instructors for the purposes of project coordination, continuity
  • and completion.
  • Occasionally travel to customer sites to present technical trainings, as required.


Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, related technical field, or equivalent relevant
  • experience.
  • Understanding of basic electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic theory.
  • Proficiency in electronic and basic electrical and mechanical print reading.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and write code programs.
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to drive throughout the organizations service area for business as required.


This 4-day course covers the tasks that an operator, technician, engineer or programmer needs to setup, record and/or troubleshoot programs on a FANUC Robot using HandlingTool Software.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Power up and jog the robot
  • Teach Frames
  • Recover from common program and robot faults
  • Execute production operations
  • Create, modify and execute a material handling program
  • Create and use position offsets
  • Create and execute MACROs
  • Monitor, force and simulate input and output signals
  • Backup and restore individual programs and files


The course consists of lectures, chapter reviews, demonstrations, and a series of lab exercises designed to reinforce what the student has learned. In addition to lab exercises, a pre-test and a post-test are used to measure mastery of objectives.
