Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) New Jersey


A CNA in New Jersey provides essential direct and indirect care to patients under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. The role is crucial in supporting patient well-being and ensuring a safe, comfortable care environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients with daily living activities (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, oral hygiene)
  • Support patients during meals, monitor nutrition, and record intake/output
  • Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure)
  • Aid with patient mobility, transfers, and positioning using proper techniques and equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient areas, change linens, and sanitize equipment
  • Observe and report changes in patient condition to the nursing staff
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to promote patient dignity and well-being


Qualifications:

  • Valid CNA certification in New Jersey
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification (often preferred)
  • Experience in long-term care or similar settings is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Physically able to lift/move patients and stand for extended periods


Work Environment:

  • Settings include hospitals, rehab centers, long-term care facilities, and home healthcare
  • Schedules may involve mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays


Compensation:

  • Varies by experience, location, and employer
  • Some positions offer up to $27 per hour, plus benefits like tuition reimbursement, health insurance, and 401(k) matching
