Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) New Jersey
A CNA in New Jersey provides essential direct and indirect care to patients under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. The role is crucial in supporting patient well-being and ensuring a safe, comfortable care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with daily living activities (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, oral hygiene)
- Support patients during meals, monitor nutrition, and record intake/output
- Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure)
- Aid with patient mobility, transfers, and positioning using proper techniques and equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient areas, change linens, and sanitize equipment
- Observe and report changes in patient condition to the nursing staff
- Provide companionship and emotional support to promote patient dignity and well-being
Qualifications:
- Valid CNA certification in New Jersey
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification (often preferred)
- Experience in long-term care or similar settings is a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Physically able to lift/move patients and stand for extended periods
Work Environment:
- Settings include hospitals, rehab centers, long-term care facilities, and home healthcare
- Schedules may involve mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Compensation:
- Varies by experience, location, and employer
