SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for collecting, inputting, and verifying property characteristics and sales data both in the field and office. Data collection in the field includes measuring, sketching, verifying sketches, and photographing real property data for all parcels within Elbert County. Data collection in the office includes inputting, reviewing, and verifying parcel characteristics and sales data including but not limited to inspected properties, new construction, destroyed property, agricultural inspections, and sales confirmation. Applicants must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with property owners to provide accurate and helpful information regarding the data collection process. All aspects of the data collection process should be completed accurately and effectively. A supervisor or appraiser will frequently review job activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform field inspections and interviews for accurate data collection
• Performs various appraisal data collection functions, includes reviewing for accuracy and completeness; posting appraisal information, compiling property information, and tabulating data, and performing mathematical computations to verify accuracy and completeness.
• Accurately measure, photograph, and document property data, improvements, and outbuildings
• Maintain consistency within appraisal work and department policies • Properly organize and enter data into property files and CAMA system
• Determine percent complete and effective date of completion for new construction
• Sketch and calculate areas of new construction for entry into Assessors records
• Assist taxpayers and public with assessment, tax, and property information
• Attend educational courses and seminars
• Perform any other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to perform all essential functions of the job
• Must have a valid Colorado Driver’s License and acceptable motor vehicle record
• Must pass a criminal background check
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in assessment or related field and/or experience in a County Assessor’s or local government Office.
Knowledge of real estate and property characteristics such as building design, construction, and materials preferred.
PHYSICAL EFFORT, WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is completed both in a standard office environment and in the field; generally scheduled Monday through Thursday, although some work may be required outside of regular business hours during reappraisal years.
Hazards include working in severe cold or hot weather, around dilapidated property, construction sites, animals, heavy equipment, and driving a motor vehicle in all types of conditions.
Environmental Conditions - Office/field environment; may work in inclement weather conditions.

- Essential and marginal functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, or walking for prolonged periods of time and operating motorized vehicles.
