We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our teaching team at Hidden Valley Preschool. Our program has a 4-star rating from Parent Aware. We strive to provide a quality learning environment based on play, which builds confidence in children and prepares them for Kindergarten. We focus on hands-on exploration, discovery, and outdoor play while supporting development of interpersonal relationships and emotional regulation.
The position is for a substitute teacher who would fill-in for other teachers. There is also an opportunity to work a consistent 4 hour shift (once a week during the school year, twice a week during the summer). We offer flexible scheduling and can help you work around your other commitments.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have previous experience working with children
- Must demonstrate a kind, patient and caring temperament
- Must communicate with other teachers and parents in a positive, respectful, and collaborative manner to support each child's needs
Responsibilities
- Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom environment that promotes learning and exploration.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively, with positive and calm guidance, as modeled by other teachers.
- Lead stories, lessons, games, and activities supported by early learning standards.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding daily activities.
- Collaborate with other teachers to share best practices, improve teaching strategies, and guide student behavior.
- Assist students with daily needs, including toileting and dressing for the outdoors, while guiding them towards independence.
- Prepare and serve student snacks. Assist with lunches from home.
- Support children with diverse needs, ensuring all students have equal opportunities to thrive.
Experience
- Experience in classroom management techniques that foster a positive learning environment (or a willingness to learn and implement them).
- Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff members to build strong relationships within the school community.
- Experience adapting plans to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, ensuring inclusivity in the classroom setting.

Schedule
- Fill-in for other teachers when absent
- Opportunity for additional weekly 4 hour shift (possibly two shifts/week in the summer), ability to choose your own hours
- Monday to Friday, no weekends
