ISN is seeking adjudicators to provide contract assistance with adjudicating and initiating full-scope background investigations for selected sworn and civilian applicants.
Job Responsibilities:
- Each adjudicator will be assigned cases by the Senior Adjudicator containing the applicant’s personal history statement. The adjudicator shall initiate a WALES/NCIC criminal background check, Department of Motor Vehicle check, credit checks and checks through local law enforcement agencies. Upon receipt of documentation, the adjudicator shall evaluate and adjudicate for purposes of employment suitability based upon specific law enforcement Employment Suitability Standards. Adjudicators will also be required to conduct interviews and reconcile information regarding the candidate’s background.
- Upon the conclusion of an Assessment Center, the adjudicator will review all polygraph, psychological, and medical reports, comparing all information that has been provided by the applicant and identify discrepancies, if any. The adjudicator will upload all required documents to the case management system and assemble case jackets for eligible candidates.
- Adjudicators may be required to conduct criminal name checks for special events as directed by the Division Commander.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED; Higher education preferred
- Must be trained by an approved or recognized training program (e.g. Federal Background Investigator Training Program (FBITP), local law enforcement training or Reid School) and have no less than two years of experience as a Background Investigator, Criminal Investigator, Security Specialist or Adjudicator with a federal agency, police department, recognized private contractor or military related training specializing in background investigations.
- Must have a minimum general experience of 5 years of adjudicative and investigative support. -Must be knowledgeable about all applicable fraud statutes, local, state, and federal, to ensure duties and assignments are carried out within the requirements of applicable law and client expectations.
- Must have a favorably adjudicated full-scope background investigation to include a Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint check. Confirmation of these credentials may be requested at any time.
- Must maintain the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality when handling information related to the contract.
- Must provide customer service and serve as liaisons with insurance companies claim services, claimants, policyholders, agents, counterparts in other departments, external legal professionals, external medical professionals, financial institutions, government/regulatory agencies, potential customers, vendors, and suppliers as necessary to perform assigned tasks under the contract.
- Must have the ability to conduct investigatory interviews.
- Must have the ability to conduct investigations requiring a high degree of skill for varied personnel security investigations and work to ensure suitability for employment based upon established suitability guidelines.
- Must be able to determine the information or evidence required to reach a judgement and best approach to obtain that information.
- Must be able to gather background data, including the initiation of credit and criminal checks, and draft a report of findings for investigative cases.
- Must be able to prepare a wide variety of complex documents, memorandums and/or reports that summarize the evidence which includes formal analyses, investigative results, and recommendations for disposition of each case.

- Relocation is not available
- Personnel are required to report onsite four (4) days a week with one (1) telework day
