The opportunityDorsett Controls is seeking a proactive and adaptable Corporate Trainer to design, deliver, and continuously improve training programs for both internal employees and external customers. This role will be instrumental in ensuring workforce readiness, product knowledge, and customer satisfaction through engaging, effective, and technically accurate training content.The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to hands-on learning by spending time in the field with technical teams including controls, automation, and SCADA professionals to develop a deep understanding of technical job functions. This field immersion will inform the creation of practical, job-specific training paths that meet both organizational goals and the learning needs of our workforce and clients.Your responsibilities
- Develop and deliver onboarding, product, process, and technical training for employees and customers through a variety of formats (in-person, virtual, LMS-based).
- Collaborate with field teams and subject matter experts to identify skill gaps and training opportunities specific to technical roles.
- Spend time in the field with operations, engineering, SCADA, and construction teams to understand job functions and inform accurate training content.
- Design role-based learning paths for technical roles such as automation technicians, project managers, SCADA engineers, and control panel technicians.
- Facilitate customer training sessions post-installation or implementation, ensuring confident use of our systems and services.
- Maintain and update training documentation, manuals, guides, and e-learning modules in alignment with system updates and best practices.
- Monitor training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics to continuously improve delivery and outcomes.
- Coordinate logistics for training sessions including scheduling, materials, room setup, and follow-up communications.
- Build strong partnerships with internal departments (engineering, operations, sales, HR) to align training with business objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Communications, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in training, technical education, or instructional design; experience in a technical industry required.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible, effective training content.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills in both classroom and virtual settings.
- Willingness to travel and spend time in field environments to gain practical understanding of technical roles.
- Knowledge of SCADA, automation, or industrial controls is a strong plus (or willingness to learn).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative and flexible approach.
Preferred attributes
- Field experience or exposure to technical environments such as industrial automation, construction, or water/wastewater systems.
- Experience developing technical documentation or SOPs.
- Certifications in instructional design, training delivery, or adult learning

Travel Requirements
- Willingness to travel up to 40% including overnight stays, to support project execution, site visits, customer training and team collaboration across multiple locations.
