Position Overview
We are seeking a results-driven Business Development individual to expand market presence, drive growth, and build long-term client relationships. This role focuses on developing new business opportunities across commercial, industrial, healthcare, institutional, and mission-critical sectors while strengthening partnerships with general contractors, developers, engineers, and facility owners.
The ideal candidate understands the mechanical construction lifecycle, including preconstruction, estimating, design-assist, and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Market Development & Strategy
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities in target markets.
- Develop and execute strategic business development plans to achieve organization goals.
- Research market trends, upcoming projects, and competitor activity.
- Maintain and grow relationships with general contractors, developers, owners, engineers, and architects.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as primary contact for prospective clients.
- Conduct client meetings, presentations, and capability demonstrations.
- Build long-term relationships that generate repeat and negotiated work.
- Maintain CRM database with accurate pipeline tracking and reporting.
Preconstruction & Proposal Support
- Collaborate with estimating and preconstruction teams.
- Participate in RFP/RFQ responses, interviews, and presentations.
- Support contract negotiations and project handoff to operations teams.
Industry Engagement
- Represent the company at networking events, trade associations, and industry conferences.
- Build partnerships with engineering firms, property managers, and facility operators.
- Promote brand awareness and thought leadership within the market.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of business development or sales experience in mechanical contracting, construction, or related building systems industries.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding organization goals.
- Established network within the construction industry.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
