Position Summary

The EHS Safety Specialist – 2nd Shift is responsible for identifying workplace hazards, conducting industrial hygiene assessments, and implementing environmental, health, and safety programs in a manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with operations and leadership teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a proactive safety culture.

The successful candidate will support facility startup initiatives, lead safety training, conduct audits, and implement health and safety programs aligned with regulatory and operational requirements.


What You Will Do

Industrial Hygiene

• Identify potential workplace hazards through observation, measurement, and analysis

• Conduct exposure assessments to determine risk levels

• Monitor contaminants, noise, and environmental hazards using specialized equipment

• Collect and analyze air, water, and environmental samples

• Interpret findings and recommend corrective actions

• Develop strategies to reduce workplace exposure risks

• Advise on engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE

• Provide safety training and hazard awareness guidance

• Maintain compliance records and documentation

• Prepare reports and track corrective actions

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and audits


Health and Safety Management

• Support safety planning for new facility construction and installation

• Conduct safety inspections of equipment and facilities

• Develop safety inspection checklists and conduct audits

• Deliver safety training for employees and supervisors

• Build relationships with regulatory agencies and local authorities

• Establish safety procedures aligned with ISO standards

• Develop and implement facility safety programs

• Reinforce safe work practices across production teams

• Collaborate with engineering and operations to resolve safety issues

• Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis

• Support workers’ compensation investigations

• Develop short- and long-term safety strategies

• Track safety trends and implement preventive measures


What You Will Bring

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Science or related field

• 3+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment

• Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, and EPA regulations

• Experience implementing EHS procedures and ISO standards

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Experience with hazard assessments and exposure monitoring

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office


Preferred

• Experience supporting new plant startup

• Automotive manufacturing experience

• Experience with EHS systems or safety software

• Industrial hygiene experience
