Highly skilled critical care registered nurses are sought for a fast-paced Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) that provides specialized care for the most critically ill patients. This contract role is located in Antioch, TN, and requires proficiency in managing complex cardiac and neuro/neurosurgical cases.
The unit serves a diverse patient population, ranging from adolescents through late adults (14-60+), with a focus on cardiac surgery, cardiac transplant, myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmias, post cardiopulmonary arrest care, and post ventricular assist device placement. Nurses typically manage a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio in a 15-bed setting.
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Current Registered Nurse licensure
- Critical care experience in CVICU or cardiac/neuro ICU settings
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Successful completion of a proctored cardiac rhythm test
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert nursing care to critically ill patients requiring open heart recovery and neuro/neurosurgery support
- Monitor patients cardiac rhythms and respond to ICU-level emergencies, including those requiring ECMO support
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient assessments and care plans
- Educate patients and families regarding care and treatment plans
