Job Title: Toolroom Supervisor

Pay Rate: $32.00 – $36.06 per hour

Location: Trenton, Michigan (On-site – Automotive Plant)

Employment Type: Contract

Schedule: Full-time hours

Position Summary

The Toolroom Supervisor is responsible for sourcing new product tooling, developing tool specifications, and managing the build, modification, and preventative maintenance of tooling used in manufacturing operations. This role oversees tooling costs, ensures quality and efficiency, and works cross-functionally with manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering teams to support production goals.


Nature and Scope / Principal Accountabilities

  • Serve on program teams to manage the build of new product tooling
  • Develop, implement, and maintain tooling standards
  • Assist maintenance teams with preventative maintenance activities
  • Manage changes to new and existing tooling
  • Interface with manufacturing to resolve processing issues through tooling modifications
  • Research and evaluate alternative tooling sources to improve cost, quality, and delivery
  • Maintain tooling drawings and identification records
  • Approve tool designs and material selections
  • Track complete timing of tool builds against master program schedules
  • Manage costs for initial tool builds and audit change costs to ensure lowest possible spend
  • Collaborate closely with Process Specialists during tool tryouts to ensure optimal performance
  • Identify critical spare components and establish inventory and replenishment systems
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management


Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering discipline required, or
  • Journeyman status with a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience, or
  • Minimum of 10 years of technical/manufacturing experience
  • Ability to work any shift and overtime as required
  • Working knowledge of advanced technical problem-solving tools
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interface with all levels of plant personnel, from hourly employees to senior leadership
  • Goal-oriented self-starter with the ability to lead in a team-based environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to walk long distances and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds or more
