Plainview, NY
Full-Time: Mon-Thurs 8AM-4PM, Fri 9AM-5PM (Flexibility for evenings/weekends)
Salary $70k - $72k/yr
Join our team at AHRC Nassau - a leading nonprofit organization supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities - as a Nurse Educator – Staff Training (DSP Focus). In this impactful role, you’ll help train and certify our direct support professionals (DSPs) and other staff on essential health topics to ensure safe, quality care. This is a non-hospital-based position, ideal for RNs who are passionate about education, coaching, and making a difference in a mission-driven setting.
This unique opportunity involves educating staff on a variety of medical and health-related topics, including but not limited to: CPR, AMAP and AMAP Recertification, Infection Control, First Aid & Seizure Management, Bloodborne Pathogens, PPD, OPWDD Diabetes Care, Tube Feeding, and Colostomy Care.
In addition, you will:
- Facilitate training supports utilizing a variety of instructional techniques or formats such as role-playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures.
- Train & certify AMAP students.
- Ensure all program staff receive adequate medical training, as needed, and based on internal and QA audit outcomes.
- Train staff on Diabetes education, Tube Feeding and Colostomy Bag training in compliance with OPWDD.
- Administer and read Mantoux (PPD) testing.
- Assist in the development of new and updated curricula and procedures determined by AHRC Nassau, Citizens Options Unlimited, Inc., and OPWDD regulations.
- Conduct on-site, program-specific, field-based training as needed.
- Work evenings and/or weekends as needed; travel to program locations as needed to facilitate onsite training.

We require:
- NYS Registered Nurse Licensure
- Strong public speaking abilities
- Experience working in the field of Intellectual Disability/Development Disability preferred
- Teaching experience strongly preferred
- Proficient in utilizing all MS Office Suite applications and virtual platforms i.e., Teams, Zoom.
- Ability to work weekends as needed
