Silver Lake Hospital of Newark, NJ is seeking to hire a full time Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide optimal care for our long-term acute care patients to help them improve their daily living activities. Our Occupational Therapists work 8 hour shifts, Monday-Friday.


ABOUT SILVER LAKE HOSPITAL

Silver Lake Hospital is a long-term acute care hospital with a reputation of providing patients with a place to heal before heading home. A long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) is an acute care specialty hospital that provides highly advanced and focused care for higher acuity patients who have not responded to short-term treatment in traditional general hospitals. The average length of stay in an LTACH is 25 days as compared to a 3-5 day average stay in a general hospital. Our safe and state of the art hospital is designed to admit and care for the most critically ill patients.


POSITION SUMMARY

The Occupational Therapist (OT) evaluates and treats functional limitations in all activities of daily living which include eating, hygiene, dressing, functional mobility, health management and writing. The Occupational Therapist provides supervision of treatment delivered by the Occupational Therapist Assistants and Occupational Therapist Assistant Students. This position involves direct patient care for a population of patients between the ages of 18 and older and requires age-specific experience, specialized training, and/or expertise to serve this population.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy (Master's degree preferred).
  • Current NJ state occupational therapy license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
  • 2+ years of occupational therapy experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR systems.
