Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Medical Surgical LPN to join a fast-paced acute care environment. This role involves managing a patient assignment under RN supervision and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to medically complex and post-surgical patients.
Key Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care within scope of LPN practice under RN supervision

Manage assigned patient caseload in an acute care setting
-
Perform medication administration and patient assessments
-
Initiate and maintain IV therapy and provide line care
-
Assist with blood product administration and heparin protocols
-
Monitor patients on telemetry and respond to changes in condition
-
Provide wound care, including wound vac management
-
Support respiratory care including oxygen delivery and tracheostomy care
-
Participate in rapid response and code team situations
-
Maintain accurate documentation using electronic medical records
-
Adhere to infection control, isolation precautions, and safety standards
Required Licensure & Certifications
-
Active New York State LPN license (must be in hand; NY is not a compact state)
-
BLS certification (AHA)
Required Clinical Experience & Skills
-
Acute care Medical Surgical experience within the past 2 years
-
Ability to take independent patient assignments with RN support
-
IV insertion, maintenance, and phlebotomy
-
Central line and PICC line care
-
Oxygen therapy (nasal cannula, HFNC, oxygen tanks)
-
Telemetry monitoring (on-unit)
-
Feeding tube care and management
-
Pacemaker monitoring (temporary and permanent)
-
Orthopedic trauma and total joint replacement care
-
Surgical drains and post-operative patient care

Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5–1:6

Unit type: Medical Surgical unit supporting complex medicine, orthopedic overflow, and long-term acute patients

Floating required within scope and competency
