Veterinary Laboratory Technician

Lab technicians will ensure accurate and timely diagnostic results for inpatient blood, urine, fecal, ear, and cell cytology while maintaining proper working equipment.
Keeping a clean and organized working environment is required. Lab technicians will be expected to be team players, but can work independently when needed. We seek highly motivated individuals who aim to provide the best patient care and are eager to continue learning.

• Have knowledge of all in-house machines, in-house testing availability, and sample types needed to run diagnostics.
  
• -Alert the case clinician on erroneous or flagged results
• -Prepare slides for blood smear, cytology, fecal, and urine samples
• -Complete a full in-house urinalysis
• -Prepare samples to send to outside diagnostics
• -Prepare and maintain all documentation of lab requests, both internally and externally
• -Run quality control on machines, and maintain equipment, supplies, and instrumentation in working order.
  
• -Complete software updates on the machine as needed
• -Schedule machine maintenance or upgrades with company representatives as required
• -Maintain a clean laboratory, including decontaminating equipment, sinks, countertops, and the surrounding area.
• -Maintain laboratory inventory, rotate supplies, and discard expired products, working directly alongside the Inventory Manager
• -Manage all hospital equipment in and outside the laboratory, including regular maintenance and scheduled repairs.
  
• -Keep SDS sheets updated
• -Meltdown sharps and dispose of them as needed
• -Help in the pharmacy filling medication as needed
• -Any other job duty as required by nursing supervisors

Shift would be: Thursday, Friday, Saturday (9a-9p)
