Director of Nursing (DON) – Skilled Nursing (CCRC Setting)
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing (DON) to lead clinical operations within our Skilled Nursing/Long-Term Care community, part of a larger Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) that includes Assisted Living. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, resident-centered care while maintaining compliance with all state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and oversight of all nursing services within the Skilled Nursing/Long-Term Care setting
- Ensure compliance with CMS, state, and federal regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, recruitment, retention, and performance management of nursing staff
- Participate in admissions, care planning, and interdisciplinary team collaboration across levels of care
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, including QAPI, quality measures, infection prevention, and antibiotic stewardship
- Ensure accurate and compliant MDS processes and documentation
- Conduct regular rounds to monitor resident care, safety, and overall clinical outcomes
- Support staff education, competency development, and regulatory readiness
- Lead survey preparation, manage inspections, and oversee plans of correction
- Monitor incidents, investigations, and risk management processes, including abuse prevention
- Collaborate with Assisted Living leadership and other departments to ensure continuity of care within the CCRC
- Assist with departmental budgeting and resource management
- Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and compassionate care
Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Prior experience as a DON or nursing leadership in skilled nursing/long-term care
- Strong working knowledge of MDS, CMS regulations, infection control, antibiotic stewardship, and quality measures
- Experience with survey process and regulatory compliance
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple levels of care within a CCRC
