About Us

Join a 53-year-old, family-owned leader in the Houston area’s towing, automotive, and collision services industry, with ~100 employees. We operate a diverse fleet of ~45 trucks, handling everything from auto towing to heavy-duty hauls and unique challenges. Our high-volume towing division (~$800K–$1M monthly revenue, ~2,500 calls/month) thrives on innovation, community involvement, and stability. We’re seeking a dynamic leader to drive our towing operations to new heights.

The Role

As the Towing Operations Manager, you’ll oversee our towing division, including a fleet of ~45 trucks (light to heavy-duty, including tractor-trailers) and a team of ~50 drivers and dispatchers. You’ll run the department like your own business, managing P&L, operations, and team performance while collaborating with other departments (automotive shop, collision center, heavy fleet repair). This role requires a hands-on leader with deep towing industry experience, ready to jump in, lead by example, and boost team morale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a fleet of ~45 trucks, ensuring maintenance and operational readiness.

  • Lead ~50 staff (hiring, firing, training, dispatching) across two entities: our main towing operation and a smaller subsidiary (~7-8 trucks).

  • Oversee P&L, margins, and profitability (~$800K–$1M monthly revenue); meet targets (e.g., 60% gross profit, 10% net profit).

  • Handle contracts, bids, and inter-departmental collaboration (e.g., with accounting).

  • Supervise complex jobs (e.g., accident recoveries) and operate equipment as needed.

  • Build and optimize a support team to streamline operations.

  • Ensure compliance with safety programs and operational deadlines.

Must-Haves

  • Proven towing industry experience, including operating heavy-duty trucks and supervising complex recoveries.

  • Strong management experience (leading teams, hiring/firing).

  • Financial acumen (P&L management, profitability, budgeting).

  • Ability to earn respect through hands-on expertise and leadership.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Knowledge of fleet maintenance (basic understanding of service needs; mechanics on staff).

  • Experience with diverse hauling or out-of-state operations.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments and boost team morale.

Why Join Us?

  • Stability & Growth: Be part of a legacy company with a strong Houston market presence and growth opportunities.

  • Impact: Run a high-volume division with autonomy to shape your team.

  • Compensation: Competitive base ($110K–$130K) + performance bonuses ($2K–$7K/month possible) targeting $150K–$175K+ OTE.

  • Support: Relocation assistance for out-of-state candidates; potential company vehicle.

  • Culture: Join a community-focused, family-owned business with a passion for excellence.

Requirements

  • 5–10+ years in towing operations, with hands-on heavy-duty truck experience.

  • CDL or heavy equipment certifications a plus.

  • Dynamic, energetic leader.
