We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our eye care team. In this entry-level role, you will support optometrists by handling administrative, clinical, and patient-facing tasks to ensure smooth operations and excellent patient experiences. This position offers hands-on training and development opportunities, with the potential for advancement to an Optician role for those who demonstrate strong performance and interest in optical dispensing. Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients, schedule appointments, and manage patient records using electronic health systems.
- Conduct instrument assisted preliminary eye tests, such as auto-refraction, visual field testing, and eye pressure measurements.
- Prepare exam rooms, sterilize equipment, and assist the optometrists during patient examinations.
- Educate patients on eye care, contact lens insertion/removal, and basic eyewear options.
- Handle administrative tasks like insurance verification, billing, and inventory management for frames and lenses.
- Assist with frame selection, eyewear sales, and basic eyewear adjustments to build skills toward optician responsibilities.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing patient inquiries and ensuring a positive visit.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy in a timely manner.
- Willingness to learn and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and team members.
- Basic computer proficiency for scheduling and record-keeping.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.

- Previous experience in customer service, healthcare, or retail (e.g., assisting with eyewear sales).
- Interest in pursuing optician certification or training programs.
- Manual dexterity and hands-on skills for tasks like frame adjustments or lens handling.
- Familiarity with optometry terminology or procedures.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish
