Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and behavioral challenges in a K-12 setting. This contracted role is for the current school year, starting August 25th, and requires a Michigan teaching certification. The classroom environment is moderate cognitive impairment, serving grades 4 through 7 with a caseload of 12 students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students with ASD and behavioral needs.
- Deliver specialized instruction that acmodates diverse learning styles and promotes academic growth.
- Monitor student progress and collaborate with support staff, parents, and administration to ensure successful outes.
- Manage classroom behavior using positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS).
- Maintain detailed records of student performance, attendance, and behavioral data.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Michigan Special Education teaching certification for K-12.
- Experience working with students with ASD and behavioral challenges.
- Ability to manage moderate cognitive impairment classrooms effectively.
- Strong munication skills to interact with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Patience, flexibility, and dedication to student success.
