Head Technician / Working Shop Manager
Location: McNabb, IL Pay: $32.00 $36.00 per hour Job Type: Full-time
Role Overview
We are seeking a Head Technician / Working Shop Manager to lead our service department in McNabb. This is a "player-coach" role designed for a highly skilled technician who enjoys being hands-on in the shop while mentoring a team, improving efficiency, and maintaining elite service standards. You will be responsible for managing technicians, improving productivity, and ensuring high-quality repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Shop Leadership: Lead and supervise service technicians while maintaining shop workflow and scheduling.
- Technical Work: Diagnose and repair powersports equipment, including ATVs, UTVs, and mowers.
- Quality Control: Perform quality checks on completed jobs to ensure they meet manufacturer and warranty standards.
- Mentorship: Support technician training and assist the team with complex, high-level repairs.
- Operations: Coordinate with the parts department and track technician productivity and repair timelines.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of professional technician experience.
- Technical Skills: Strong diagnostic ability with powersports equipment or similar machinery.
- Leadership: Prior experience in a lead tech, service manager, or mentoring role.
- Software: Experience with shop management software is preferred.
- Certifications: Mechanical certifications are a plus.
