About the Role: High School Spanish Teacher
As a High School Spanish Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in developing students into global citizens. You’ll become an expert in your subject, inspiring and motivating high school students to embrace the Spanish language. Your classroom will be a safe space where students can express themselves and grow in their language skills, preparing them for academic autonomy and college-level work.
Your Responsibilities
- Instruction:
- Enhance students' bilingual skills and understanding of Spanish through a curriculum designed for Advanced Placement (AP) and collegiate coursework.
- Build students' confidence in navigating authentic print and audio sources.
- Teach reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in Spanish.
- Cultivate cultural awareness and appreciation for the Spanish language.
- Foster a community of confident Spanish speakers.
- Collaborate with the Spanish department to set academic and engagement goals.
- Data Analysis:
- Meet weekly with your principal and/or instructional coach to analyze student work and assessments.
- Implement strategies to differentiate instruction for all learners.
- School Culture:
- Build positive relationships with students to ensure they feel seen, loved, and heard.
- Partner with families to provide resources that support student learning.
- Engage in professional development, mentorship, and coaching sessions.
- Participate in weekly school-wide meetings to foster community and encourage student achievement.
- Collaborate with your grade level team to develop academic goals and instructional strategies.
Qualifications
- A commitment to supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic development.
- Enthusiasm for collaboration with internal and external partners.
- A self-directed learner who actively seeks and implements feedback.
- Required Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience impacting K-12 students in urban schools preferred.
- Academic expertise in Spanish or related fields.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required. Teacher certification is not a prerequisite, but you must meet NJ state certification eligibility requirements.

Compensation
The salary for this role ranges from $56,000 to $80,000, based on factors such as relevant teaching experience and educational certifications. Candidates without full-time teaching experience will likely start at $56,000.
