Case Manager - Mental Hygiene Legal Service
Job Description
The New York State Unified Court System is seeking a Mental Hygiene Legal Service Case Analyst in the Oneonta Satellite Office of the Appellate Division, Third Department. MHLS Case Analysts work under the direct supervision of MHLS staff attorneys in providing advocacy and related services to patients and residents of facilities licensed or operated by the New York State Office of Mental Health and the Office for People with Develop-mental Disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interviewing clients, explain their legal status and rights, and refer matters to MHLS staff attorneys as ap-propriate.
- Interacting with facility employees including psychiatric, medical, social work, and care management staff.
- Attending and participating in conferences, administrative and legal proceedings.
- Assist staff attorneys in the completion of reports and preparation for administrative and court proceedings regarding the commitment, retention, care and treatment of patients and residents in facilities.
- Serve as Court Evaluators in Mental Hygiene Law article 81 guardianship proceedings and investigate petitions for guardianship.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and Two (2) years of satisfactory full-time experience in social work or a related field with a social services agency, hospital, psychiatric facility, law office, or similar setting; or Master's Degree in social work or a related field from an accredited college or university; or An equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle are required.
Base Salary: $64,971
