SUMMARY:

The Senior Engagement Associate supports Iona’s Community Dining and Wellness Programs across Ward 3 sites, including Tenleytown and Regency House. This role assists with daily site operations, participant engagement, and program support during operating hours.

The Senior Engagement Associate functions as a welcoming presence at the site, helping to create an inclusive and engaging environment for program participants (DC residents age 60+). This position supports participant intake, survey collection, activity participation, and overall program flow.

Working closely with the Project Director, Activities and Outreach Managers, Nutrition Team, and site staff. The Senior Engagement Associate helps ensure smooth day-to-day operations and a positive experience for all participants.

This is a contract position scheduled to be concluded on September 30, 2026.

Participant Engagement & Support

  • Welcome participants and help create a friendly, respectful, and inclusive environment.
  • Engage participants during program hours, including assisting with activities, conversations, and general support.
  • Support distribution of calendars, announcements, and program materials.

Data & Administrative Support

  • Assist with participant intakes and ensure forms are completed accurately.
  • Support survey collection and other required documentation.
  • Ensure daily sign-in sheets and meal reservations are completed in alignment with program requirements.
  • Communicate in attendance, concerns, and updates to supervisors and appropriate staff.

Program Support

  • Assist with the coordination and facilitation of activities and programs at assigned sites.
  • Provide general on-site support during program hours, including set-up and light clean-up as needed.
  • Support staff with special events, outreach efforts, and participant engagement initiatives.

Operations

  • Adhere to DACL standards and guidelines for Community Dining Programs.
  • Maintain professionalism and appropriate workplace boundaries with participants, staff, and building personnel.
  • Report any concerns or incidents to supervisors in a timely manner.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 60 years of age or older and a resident of Washington, DC.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to engage respectfully with older adults from diverse backgrounds.
  • Organized, reliable, and able to follow processes and procedures.
  • Comfortable assisting with basic administrative tasks (forms, sign-ins, surveys, intakes, waivers etc.).
  • Willingness to learn and support program operations.
  • Driving License is preferred.

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE:

  • $18.00 per hour
  • 20–25 hours per week
  • Schedule may include weekdays during program hours, with some flexibility as needed.
  • This is a contract position scheduled to be concluded on September 30, 2026.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work is primarily conducted at community sites (Tenleytown and Regency House).
  • May require light lifting, standing, and assisting with basic site set-up.
