Deliver skilled patient care in a dynamic stepdown unit designed for patients requiring intermediate critical care monitoring and treatment. This opportunity focuses on providing care to a diverse patient population, including those with chronic kidney disease, diabetes, congestive heart failure, respiratory failure, and sepsis, among others. Care is delivered with a strong emphasis on critical thinking, effective communication, and timely interventions to improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate treatment outcomes in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Administer medications and therapies safely, following established protocols and state regulations.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and manage associated drips, with proficiency in dysrhythmia exams and telemetry monitoring.
- Provide patient and family education, acting as a liaison to coordinate care across hospital departments.
- Document patient care accurately using electronic health record systems, including EPIC and PerfectServe.
- Float to related units such as Med-Surg and Telemetry as needed to support staffing requirements.
- Advocate for patient safety, quality improvement, and compassionate care in alignment with best nursing practices.
Desired Experience and Qualifications
- Valid RN license with compact state eligibility.
- Minimum of 2 years recent stepdown or acute care nursing experience; travel nursing experience preferred.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required; advanced certifications like CCRN or PCCN are a plus.
- Strong skills in advanced cardiac rhythm interpretation, oxygen therapy, wound care, IV insertion, and NG tube management.
- Excellent critical thinking, time management, and communication skills.
Contract Details
- Position is contract-based, ideal for travel nurses located at least 50 miles from the facility.
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, with every other weekend and holiday rotation expected.
