Job Title: Medical Lab Tech/MLT
Location: Lakewood, Colorado
Schedule 40 hours/week
Shift: 4x10-hour night shifts (20:30–07:00)
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Pay Range for Traveler: $1,700.00- $1,780.00Weekly DOE
Job Summary:
We are seeking A dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing, monitoring, and treating diseases. The MLT accurately collects, processes, analyzes, and reports patient specimens across various laboratory departments, ensuring high-quality and timely results. This role requires strong technical skills to operate and maintain complex laboratory instruments, strict adherence to safety and quality standards, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with other healthcare professionals. The MLT plays a vital part in supporting patient care through reliable diagnostics, problem-solving, and continuous commitment to accuracy and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all levels of general testing within the analytical laboratory
- Apply high-level technical knowledge to testing and ensure clinical relevance
- Function independently with strong problem-solving skills
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following all lab, hospital, and regulatory guidelines
- Perform cytogenetic testing accurately per protocols
- Generate and report results used for diagnosis and patient care decisions
- Ensure timely and efficient job duties within required timeframes
- Support a positive, team-oriented, service-focused environment reflecting system mission and values
- Demonstrate competency with laboratory computer systems
- Accurately and promptly report results, including critical results communication and documentation
- Use critical thinking and independent judgment to correlate and interpret data
- Compile and review LIS reports to ensure timely collection, processing, and testing of samples
- Resolve unusual test orders in coordination with caregivers, reference labs, or lab leadership
- Participate in training and orientation of new associates and students
- May have lead responsibilities and participate in inspections, projects, teams, or committees
- Attend department, laboratory, and hospital meetings and forums
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot instruments with proper documentation
- Complete required quality control (QC) and maintenance, recognizing and documenting corrective actions
- Detect and document deviations from defined procedures
- Receive, assess, prioritize, and process specimens; ensure proper identification and handling
- Order and process samples for hospital and outreach patients
- Centrifuge, aliquot, distribute, and prepare samples for off-site testing
- Package samples for courier transport and complete all related documentation
- Use resources efficiently; contribute to supply management and cost containment
- Maintain scheduling flexibility to respond to workload and staffing needs
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, workflow, and cost efficiency
- Act as a liaison with other lab departments and hospital services
Required Certification & Experience:
- Experience: 1+ Year of experience in Acute Care MLT experience.
- Certification: BLS form AHA and ASCP-MLT, AMT-MLT, or equivalent certification (required within 6 months of hire if not in hand)
