Job Title: Mechanical Machine Builder – Automation & Robotics


Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Machine Builder to lead the mechanical assembly and integration of custom-built automation machines and robotic systems. This role plays a critical part in building high-quality, complex equipment while collaborating closely with engineering, controls, and electrical teams. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of leading builds from concept through testing and installation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical assembly and integration of custom automation machines and robotic systems
  • Interpret and work from detailed CAD drawings, mechanical schematics, and bills of materials (BOMs)
  • Assemble, align, and install frames, actuators, conveyors, gearboxes, and robotic arms
  • Perform mechanical debugging, troubleshooting, and functional testing
  • Collaborate with controls, electrical, and engineering teams during system build and commissioning
  • Mentor and guide junior machine builders and technicians on best practices, safety, and quality standards
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and support Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and customer installations
  • Identify and communicate design, assembly, and process improvement opportunities
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with company policies and safety regulations
  • Travel occasionally for customer installs and service support


Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical assembly and machine building for automation or special machinery
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, servo motors, and industrial components
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation
  • Experience integrating robotic systems such as FANUC, ABB, or YASKAWA (highly preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience on machine builds or small project teams
  • Proficient with hand tools, precision measurement instruments, and alignment techniques
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a solutions-oriented mindset
