About Island Compounding Pharmacy
Island Compounding Pharmacy specializes in custom, non-sterile compounded medications that support personalized and preventative care. We formulate bioidentical hormones, nutraceutical blends, and prepare individualized packets designed to optimize patient outcomes for Lile Wellness patients. By working closely with the Lile Wellness clinical team, Island Compounding Pharmacy ensures patients receive safe, precise, and high-quality compounded therapies tailored to their unique needs.
Position Summary
The Pharmacy Technician supports Island Compounding Pharmacy by assisting with the preparation of non-sterile compounded medications and providing customer service to patients. Responsibilities include compounding, labeling, record-keeping, processing prescriptions, handling payments, and assisting with refills and patient inquiries. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and a positive patient experience while supporting pharmacists in daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare non-sterile compounded medications under pharmacist supervision, following established formulas and SOPs.
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients using proper compounding techniques and calibrated equipment.
- Label and package finished products in compliance with USP <795>, state, and federal requirements.
- Maintain compounding logs, batch records, and quality assurance documentation.
- Process prescription orders, refill requests, and patient transactions (including credit card payments).
- Answer patient phone calls and emails to assist with customer support, routing clinical inquiries to the pharmacist as needed.
- Process AM/PM packets using the Euclid packet machine.
- Perform equipment cleaning, calibration, and routine maintenance.
- Support pharmacists during audits, inspections, and ongoing quality assurance activities.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, sanitation, and regulatory protocols.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in pharmacy or science preferred.
- Active Pharmacy Technician license/registration in applicable state(s).
- Strong knowledge of USP <795> standards and state/federal pharmacy regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment and provide excellent customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a non-sterile compounding pharmacy is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of hormone therapy and nutraceuticals.
- Experience using The Compounder software
- Experience using a packet fill machine
