Incoming Inspection Technician | Kentwood, MI

Salary Range: $43,000 - $66,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify incoming materials against purchase orders, drawings, and specifications.
  • Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of raw materials and components.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM) to assess part conformance.
  • Document inspection results accurately in the quality management system.
  • Initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for rejected materials and coordinate dispositions.
  • Communicate inspection statuses and findings to purchasing, engineering, and production teams.
  • Maintain organized inspection records and ensure material traceability.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Skilled in the use of various precision measuring equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify visual and dimensional defects.
  • Basic understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and non-conformance procedures.
  • Competent in data entry and basic computer applications.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with automated inspection equipment software (e.g., CMM, vision systems).
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for data entry and material tracking.
  • Basic understanding of Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
  • Experience communicating quality issues or non-conformances with suppliers.
