Position Overview:
Carolina University is seeking a qualified Adjunct Professor to teach American Government in person at our Winston-Salem, NC campus during the Fall II Term (October 12 – November 30, 2025). This is a part-time teaching opportunity ideal for a scholar-practitioner committed to Christian higher education and civic literacy.
Course Description:
This course provides a foundational study of the American political system with emphasis on both the theory and practice of government. Students will explore:
- The U.S. Constitution
- Federalism and the evolution of state-federal relations
- The structure and function of the legislative, executive, and judicial branches
- Key civil rights and civil liberties issues
- The role of Christians in the American political process
The course integrates a biblical worldview with civic responsibility, encouraging students to examine how their faith influences their political engagement critically.
Responsibilities:
- Teach one 7-week undergraduate course in American Government in person
- Assess and provide timely feedback on student assignments and exams
- Integrate a Christian worldview into all aspects of teaching and class discussion
- Communicate regularly with students and the academic team
- Submit final grades and course documentation by designated deadlines
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, American Government, or a related field (Doctorate preferred)
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the college level
- Ability to integrate faith and learning within the discipline of political science
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Commitment to the mission and values of Carolina University and Christian higher education
