Medical Assistant
The patient's first hands-on touch in the treatment visit — owning readiness and education at the chair.

Position Summary
The Medical Assistant owns the patient's first hands-on touch in the treatment visit at Valley Vital Care, from rooming and vitals to patient education and infusion suite readiness. This role carries the former Patient Educator duties, ensuring patients are prepared, informed, and moving through the suite efficiently — keeping the day on time without compromising care. Medical Assistants work across three levels (I, II, III), advancing as they demonstrate greater autonomy, education depth, and leadership.
Core Responsibilities
All Medical Assistants are responsible for the following:
• Room patients, take vitals, and prepare them for treatment.
• Deliver patient education and onboarding support per protocol.
• Own infusion suite readiness: setup, turnover, and supplies.
• Own delegated, non-clinical support tasks for nursing within scope.
• Document accurately in CareTend and the EHR.
• Own follow-up and reminder outreach that keeps care on schedule.
• Ensure a clean, stocked, and safe patient environment.
• Escalate clinical concerns to nursing promptly.
Levels & Added Responsibilities
Each level carries every responsibility of the level below, plus the functions listed. A teammate is placed at the highest level whose essential functions they can perform independently and to standard.
Medical Assistant I
Supports rooming, vitals, and basic patient education, and assists in the infusion suite. Works under nursing direction.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• MA certification (CMA, RMA, or CCMA) preferred
• BLS certification
• 0 to 1 year clinical support experience
Medical Assistant II
Delivers the full medical assistant scope, including patient education, and supports suite operations independently. Serves as a resource for MA I teammates during a shift.
Added responsibilities:
• Deliver the full patient education scope independently.
• Support suite operations without direct oversight.
Qualifications:
• MA certification preferred or in progress
• 1 to 3 years medical assistant experience
• Independent on rooming, vitals, and education
• Infusion or specialty experience preferred
Medical Assistant III
Leads suite workflow, handles complex patient education, and trains other assistants. Owns a support area for the site.
Added responsibilities:
• Lead suite workflow and handle complex patient education.
• Train and orient new medical assistants.
• Own a support area (education materials, suite readiness) for the site.
• Identify recurring operational barriers, recommend improvements, and help standardize best practices.
Qualifications:
• MA certification preferred
• 3+ years, including infusion or specialty experience
• Demonstrated trainer and suite resource
Advanced patient education skill
