Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARY
The part-time Repairman I position is an entry-level role responsible for assisting in general repair tasks on jobs. Under direct supervision, the Repairman I will perform basic tasks in carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical, and other maintenance areas while developing their skills through hands-on training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete individually and assist senior staff in renovations and construction activities in the areas of masonry, carpentry, framing, roofing, plumbing, electrical work, drywall, demolition, and other trades.
- Meet all criteria of the “Repairman I Expectations & Skills” checklist in regard to technical ability and core skills/competencies.
- Learn and follow safety protocols to maintain a secure, clean and organized work environment by securing tools, equipment and eliminating potential hazards, while adhering to all safety and incident reporting procedures.
- Provide a high-level of customer service when interacting with clients, staff, and vendors.
- Load and unload trucks, haul, and hoist materials as needed. Assist with material handling, storage, and transportation. Perform general labor tasks, including moving materials, cleaning work areas, and preparing job sites.
- Develop the ability to operate basic tools and machinery with guidance from experienced team members.
- Read and interpret simple designs and blueprints as directed and work collaboratively with the team to complete tasks efficiently while following instructions from supervisors to develop technical skills.
- Actively participate in on-the-job training by asking questions and following instructions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Non-essential)
- Adhere to the designated dress code as stipulated for the specific role.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Basic knowledge of construction, remodeling trades, and building codes preferred.
- Familiarity with tools, materials, and safety practices used in construction preferred.
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently or as part of a team, and adhere to schedules.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks efficiently.
- Basic math and analytical skills for interpreting job costs, reports, and material estimates.
- Reliable attendance and availability Monday through Friday, 7 AM – 3 PM.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- This position requires travel to various VOASELA locations and work sites on a daily basis. An employee must maintain reliable transportation and be able to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with state laws.
- Current driver’s license issued by state of residence.
- Current vehicle registration, insurance, and inspection.
- Satisfactory motor vehicle report.
- Must be able to pass a criminal history background investigation.
- Personal smart phone - Apple or Android
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly work near mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and construction-related chemicals. 99% of time is spent working at job sites. Substantial driving is required. Must be able to lift push pull or carry objects use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support overtime without fatigue. Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The noise level is generally loud, when near machinery and power tools. Must be able to respond quickly if necessary. Excellent stamina required.
