Job DescriptionPosition Title: Accounting ManagerLocation: Winston, GA-HybridDuration: Permanent/Full-TimeDepartment: FinanceReports To: VP of Operations Position OverviewThe Accounting Manager will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations for a manufacturing business, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This role will manage a small team and work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Sales to provide timely, relevant financial information that supports decision-making and profitable growth. QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead roleExperience in a manufacturing or distribution environment (product-based business)Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting processes (GL, AP, AR, fixed assets, inventory)Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and Microsoft Excel Preferred:CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certificationExperience with manufacturing ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Infor, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.)Experience in a company with multi-site operations Key Skills and CompetenciesStrong technical accounting skills, with solid cost and inventory accounting knowledgeAnalytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data and explain results to non-financial stakeholdersHigh attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and deadlinesStrong leadership, coaching, and team-building capabilitiesEffective communication skills (written and verbal) across functions and levelsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple prioritiesHigh integrity, professionalism, and sense of ownership Key Responsibilities1. Financial Reporting and Month-End CloseLead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processPrepare and/or review financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliationsAnalyze results and provide commentary on key variances vs. budget and prior periods2. Cost and Inventory Accounting (Manufacturing Focus)Monitor and analyze manufacturing variances (PPV, labor and overhead variances, scrap, etc.)Ensure accurate valuation of inventory, including raw materials, WIP, and finished goodsPartner with Operations to understand production performance and cost driversSupport cycle counts and annual physical inventory, including reconciliation and reporting3. General Ledger, AP/AR, and Cash ManagementMaintain the general ledger and chart of accountsSupervise accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure accuracy and timelinessOversee vendor payments, customer collections, and credit policies as neededSupport cash flow forecasting and daily/weekly cash monitoring4. Compliance, Controls, and AuditEnsure compliance with GAAP (or applicable local standards) and internal policiesMaintain and improve internal controls over financial reporting and key processesCoordinate annual financial audits and support any tax or regulatory reviewsAssist with preparation of information for corporate tax filings (in partnership with external advisors as needed)5. Budgeting, Forecasting, and AnalysisAssist with the annual budgeting process and periodic re-forecastsPrepare and analyze departmental and plant-level P&LsProvide financial insights and recommendations to management, particularly on cost structure, margins, and efficiency initiativesSupport business cases for capital expenditures and operational improvements6. Leadership and Team DevelopmentSupervise, coach, and develop accounting staff (e.g., staff accountants, AP/AR clerks)Set clear objectives, review work for accuracy and completeness, and conduct performance evaluationsFoster a culture of continuous improvement, ownership, and collaboration within the team7. Systems, Processes, and Continuous ImprovementWork with IT and Operations to maintain and enhance the ERP/accounting systemStreamline and document accounting processes and proceduresIdentify opportunities to automate routine tasks and improve data quality and reporting speed
