We are looking for a dependable Accounting Clerk or up to a Bookkeeper to support day-to-day financial operations in Houston, Texas. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong bookkeeping experience, enjoys keeping accounts accurate, and is comfortable working across payables, receivables, and reconciliations. The right candidate will be confident using QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop while maintaining organized records and helping ensure timely, accurate reporting.


Responsibilities:

• Reconcile bank, credit card, and general ledger accounts on a recurring basis to confirm accuracy and identify issues promptly.

• Review account activity, research inconsistencies, and resolve outstanding items or unexplained variances.

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks, including entering transactions and keeping records current.

• Record financial information accurately in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop to support reliable bookkeeping.

• Prepare journal entries and assist with monthly and annual closing activities as part of the accounting cycle.

• Maintain orderly accounting documentation and follow internal procedures to support compliance and audit readiness.

• Respond to questions from vendors, customers, and internal team members regarding billing, payments, and account details.

• Contribute to ad hoc assignments and provide general support for additional accounting initiatives when needed.

• At least 4 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting support, or a similar accounting clerk position.
• Demonstrated success performing account reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.
• Hands-on proficiency with both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.
• Practical experience handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, and related transaction processing.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, sorting, filtering, and basic financial reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management in a deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred; experience in construction, real estate development, or small to mid-sized business accounting is a plus.
