Job Description

We are a physician-led multispecialty group with over 650 providers, currently seeking a Full-Time Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join our dedicated team of 3 Neonatologists and 6 NNPs in the Boise metropolitan area.

Our Boise NICU features a 32-bed, Level III facility that delivers exceptional care to more than 250 infants each year. We offer advanced treatments such as conventional ventilation, iNO, HFOV, and jet ventilation for very early preterm, late preterm, and term infants. Our NICU is designed to serve families from Boise and surrounding regions in Idaho and eastern Oregon, ensuring that expert neonatal care is accessible close to home. The Saint Alphonsus Family Maternity Center sees over 1,400 deliveries annually and is supported by a highly qualified labor and delivery nursing team, an OB Hospitalist service, and 24-hour anesthesia coverage. Our safety-focused OB/GYN team collaborates with on-campus Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists, Neonatologists, and genetic counselors to cater to the diverse needs of our patient population.

In Nampa, our Level II NICU (located 15 miles west of Boise) is integrated with the Birkeland Maternity Center, which has an annual delivery rate exceeding 1,300 babies. This 4-bed NICU currently provides high-quality care for newborns over 34 weeks gestation and weighing more than 1500 grams, with plans to expand to an 18-bed unit by 2028.

Our NICU teams are committed to practicing the latest evidence-based medicine, fostering a family-centered approach that encourages collaboration between parents and our skilled staff in both Boise and Nampa. This teamwork aims to achieve outcomes that surpass national standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend high-risk deliveries and manage NICU admissions.

  • Co-manage NICU patients alongside the attending Neonatologist and oversee well newborn nursery patients as needed.

  • Engage in multidisciplinary rounds with the Neonatologist, implementing management strategies that may involve nutritional modifications, ventilator management, lab and radiology assessments, and family updates.

Staffing Model/Schedule:

  • Level III, Boise: 16-hour shifts with in-house NNP coverage from 4 PM to 8 AM.

  • Level II, Nampa: 24-hour shifts requiring a minimum of 4 hours on-site, with the remainder on-call, including well newborn coverage.

  • A full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) requires 10 shifts per month (120 annually).

Ideal Candidate:

  • Must be a graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program with current RN and APRN licensure; national board certification as an NNP is preferred OR

  • Must have completed a Nurse Practitioner program with a neonatal fellowship/residency (or possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Level III/IV NICU) and hold current NP licensure.

  • Must have current DEA and controlled substance Idaho medical licensure, along with privileges at SARMC - Boise and SAMC - Nampa.

  • Must demonstrate a commitment to:

    • Practicing current, evidence-based medicine.

    • Teamwork and fostering a culture of transformational care.

    • Providing patient care while embodying the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

  • Must have a passion for teaching and mentoring staff.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join a growing multispecialty group practice.
