About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HR Consultant to partner with a diverse client base across multiple industries. This role is ideal for a professional who enjoys variety, thrives in a client-facing environment, and can provide practical, compliant HR guidance tailored to each organization's needs.
The HR Consultant will work directly with business owners and leadership teams, providing both strategic and hands-on HR support. This position is primarily based in the Buffalo area, with occasional onsite visits to clients in Rochester, NY.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted HR advisor to clients across various industries
- Provide guidance on complex employee relations issues, wage and hour compliance, performance management, leave management, leadership development and workplace policies
- Assist with compliance of federal, state, and local employment laws
- Develop, review, and implement HR policies, customized handbooks, and procedures
- Support recruitment efforts, including job postings, interviewing, and onboarding
- Conduct workplace investigations and provide recommendations
- Deliver onsite HR support and training as needed
- Partner with clients on organizational development and HR best practices
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an HR Consultant (required)
- Strong knowledge of New York State and federal employment laws
- Proven ability to manage multiple clients and priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in a client-facing environment
- Willingness to travel locally to client sites in Buffalo and occasionally Rochester, NY
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred
- HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) is a plus
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $65,000 – $80,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)
