CNC Lathe Programmer | Walker, MI
Salary Range: $62,000 - $97,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for lathe operations using CAM software or manual G-code.
- Interpret engineering blueprints, 3D models, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure accurate programming.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, and workholding devices based on material and part specifications.
- Perform program simulations and dry runs to verify tool paths, detect collisions, and optimize machining processes.
- Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality control to troubleshoot issues and improve part quality and production efficiency.
- Create and maintain comprehensive setup sheets, tool lists, and operational documentation for each programmed part.
- Continuously identify and implement improvements to reduce cycle times, extend tool life, and enhance overall manufacturing productivity.
Recommended Qualifications
- Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Esprit, GibbsCAM) for G-code generation.
- Expertise in G-code and M-code programming for 2-axis and multi-axis CNC lathes.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Comprehensive knowledge of cutting tools, workholding, materials, and machining strategies for lathe operations.
- Proven experience in optimizing programs for cycle time reduction, tool life, and surface finish.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with 4/5-axis turning or mill-turn programming.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) for model manipulation or fixture design.
- Familiarity with machine simulation software (e.g., Vericut, NCSIMUL).
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
