Job Description

Education/Experience: Prior experience in a mechanical or machine shop position


Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of machinery set-up and repairs
  • Knowledge of machine shop processes
  • Ability to read various measuring devices
  • Strong Math ability and mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of safety equipment and procedures
  • Organizational skills and strong interaction skills
  • Ability to interact as a team member and work with related departments
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and twist, when job requires. Also use hand manipulation
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds maximum. Lift assist available
  • Ability to follow departmental procedures
  • Ability to use a milling machine, horizontal grinder, lathe, pedestal grinder, automatic welders, hand-welders, presses, shuttles, and welding equipment


Essential Duties:

· Employee is responsible to perform set-up work on the machinery as required to meet the production specifications and to perform troubleshooting

· Employee is responsible to check safety equipment on machinery prior to operation

· Employee is responsible to utilize proper personal protective equipment, and adhere to safety regulations required in this area

· Employee is responsible to complete TDR form, breakdowns and set-ups on a daily basis

· Employee is responsible to handle minor rework of fixtures as required

· Employee is responsible to communicate status of machinery problems and product quality control issues to the Welder Set-Up Supervisor and/or Shift Supervisor

· Employee is responsible to ensure that machinery set-ups meet the tolerance standards.

· Employee is responsible to report extensive mechanical problems to the Welder Set-Up Mechanic

· Employee is responsible to educate machine operators on machinery shutdown procedures, in case of an emergency

· Employee is required to follow and comply with Company safety policies and procedures


Other Duties:

· Employee is responsible to maintain their immediate work area, as well as common work areas
