Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A nursing opportunity is available on a contract basis in Volcano, HI, for a skilled Registered Nurse experienced in progressive care and telemetry. This role is centered in a 15-bed unit combining step-down ICU and telemetry patients, providing critical care and continuous monitoring in a dynamic hospital setting.

Responsibilities include delivering primary nursing care, telemetry monitoring and strip reading, and performing fingerstick blood sugar tests. Nurses will utilize equipment such as Meditech electronic charting systems, Pyxis medication dispensers, BIPAP machines, and continuous cardiac monitors. Floating to other acute units, including Medical, Surgical/Pediatric, ICU, and Emergency Departments, will be required, broadening the scope of clinical practice and experience.

Schedule and work hours involve approximately 36 hours weekly following an initial orientation, with no on-call duties. Candidates must be ready to arrive by the Thursday preceding the start date for mandatory employee health appointments on Friday. Its critical that candidates possess or obtain a valid Hawaii State nursing license prior to beginning the assignment.

Qualifications and desired experience include:

  • At least 1 year of recent hospital acute care experience
  • Preferably experience in progressive care and telemetry units
  • Current ACLS certification is preferred
  • PALS and NIHSS certifications are advantageous
