Position Summary
The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for leading all sourcing and procurement activities to ensure timely material availability, cost competitiveness, supplier performance, and supply chain stability. This role drives cost reduction initiatives, manages supplier relationships, and develops sourcing strategies that support production schedules, quality standards, and company financial objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesSourcing & Procurement Operations
- Oversee and ensure execution of all sourcing and purchasing activities, including purchase order management for fabricated and catalog components, while providing hands-on support as needed to maintain continuity
- Drive supplier communication and accountability by ensuring distribution of open order reports, monitoring commitments, and stepping in to resolve critical delivery issues when necessary
- Lead coordination of new part setup and RFQ processes, ensuring alignment across stakeholders, while supporting execution of supplier quotations and onboarding activities as required
- Ensure timely resolution of receiving discrepancies and invoice issues, guiding the team while actively assisting in complex or high-impact cases
- Monitor MRP outputs and direct purchasing adjustments
Cost & Profit Improvement
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives to reduce material costs and total cost of ownership, while maintaining a high level of quality
- Own supplier negotiations related to pricing, terms, lead times, and cost stability without compromising quality
- Establish and track annual cost-savings targets aligned with plant and corporate goals
- Implement cost-effective sourcing strategies that ensure quality, delivery, and continuity of supply
- Reduce supplier-related production disruptions, shortages, and expedite costs
- Negotiate supplier stocking programs to support quick delivery while minimizing internal inventory
Supplier & Supply Chain Management
- Maintain strong professional relationships with vendors and trade partners
- Evaluate supplier performance related to cost, quality, delivery, and responsiveness
- Coordinate supplier deliveries to support production schedules
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers as needed
Quality, Process Improvement & Team Development
- Collaborate with Quality Control to resolve supplier quality issues
- Lead corrective actions for NCRs with suppliers, QC, and Production Control
- Perform cost analyses and supplier comparisons
- Supervise, train, and develop sourcing staff
- Standardize sourcing processes and best practices
- Promote cross-functional collaboration and team development
Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration
- Partner with Application Engineering to support design-for-cost and manufacturability
- Support new product introductions and engineering changes through proactive sourcing
- Collaborate with sister companies on sourcing strategy and global procurement initiatives
Position RequirementsEducation & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of strategic sourcing or procurement experience in manufacturing
- Proven track record of cost reduction and supplier performance improvement
- Experience managing or leading buyers or procurement staff
