Position: Director of Event Parking Operations

Location: Orange County, CA

Schedule: Full-Time

Salary: $90,000 - $120,000

The Spirit of the Position:

The Director of Event Parking Operations is responsible for leading all parking and transportation operations at a large-scale event venue. This role oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of traffic flow, staffing, and parking infrastructure to ensure efficient and safe operations during high-attendance events. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and hands-on leader with deep experience in live event logistics and the ability to drive performance across multiple teams and stakeholders.

Principal Job Duties:

  • Lead the overall strategy and execution of parking and traffic operations at large event venues.
  • Work closely with local police departments, Caltrans, and local municipality traffic management centers to create and implement daily traffic plans.
  • Develop and implement scalable procedures that support current and future operational needs while maintaining service quality and safety.
  • Direct the recruitment, scheduling, and supervision of parking and transportation personnel to ensure adequate staffing and cost-effective operations.
  • Manage parking lot operations during event days, ensuring smooth ingress, egress, and efficient use of all available space.
  • Collaborate with venue management, outside vendors, promoters, event managers, and other key stakeholders to align on logistics, access control, and emergency planning.
  • Design and oversee the implementation of traffic management plans, signage, site maps, and communications for staff and guests.
  • Handle guest complaints and inquiries in real time, providing timely and professional resolution to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Monitor parking infrastructure and service performance, recommending enhancements where applicable.
  • Manage vehicle insurance records, incident response protocols, and maintenance schedules for all fleet assets.
  • Oversee departmental budgeting, controlling expenses and allocating resources to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Set performance goals and lead continuous improvement initiatives in alignment with broader organizational objectives.
  • Perform other related duties to support event success and the growth of parking operations.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Extensive experience managing parking and traffic operations for large-scale public events.
  • Preferred certifications: ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor and Certified Administrator of Public Parking.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, AMVD, OSHA regulations, and local transportation protocols.
  • Demonstrated success working with local and state transportation agencies (e.g., police departments, Caltrans, local traffic control).
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and during emergencies.
  • Familiarity with surface and structured parking facility maintenance and operational best practices.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage, mentor, and motivate large teams in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams) and other operational tools.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field preferred.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a passion for operational excellence and guest satisfaction.

Education:

  • Associate degree or bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.

Experience:

  • Parking management experience is preferred but not required.
  • 1+ year in a management role.
  • Previous experience with Event or Venue management desired
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, Power Point and General Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Experience working with financial statement/accounting, P&L reports and budgeting.
  • Ability to be flexible with the event schedule in order to meet operational needs. This may require occasionally working outside of regularly scheduled hours.

Physical Demands:

  • Willingness to work in the elements heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk and run for extended periods of time.
  • Ability bend, stoop, squat and lift frequently throughout a shift.
