Job Overview
The Pavement Seal & Striping Crew Foreman plays a critical leadership role in overseeing and coordinating all activities related to pavement sealing and striping projects. This position ensures that all work is performed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards, meeting client specifications and regulatory requirements. The foreman is responsible for managing crew members, scheduling tasks, and maintaining equipment to optimize productivity and minimize downtime. They serve as the primary point of contact between the crew, operations, and clients, facilitating clear communication and timely resolution. Ultimately, the foreman’s leadership directly impacts project success, customer satisfaction, and the overall reputation of the company within the pavement maintenance industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Crew Supervision: Supervise and lead a crew performing pavement sealing and striping operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Project Coordination: Plan daily work schedules, assign tasks, and monitor progress to meet project deadlines and client expectations.
  • Quality Control: Inspect job sites before, during, and after work to ensure proper application of sealants and accurate striping layouts.
  • Equipment Operations: Maintain and coordinate the use of equipment and materials, ensuring all tools are in good working condition and properly utilized.
  • Training: Train crew members on best practices, safety procedures, and equipment operations to promote a skilled and compliant workforce.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with operations and clients to report progress, address concerns, and implement solutions promptly.
  • Documenting: Document work performed, including materials used, labor hours, and any incidents or deviations from the plan.
  • Other: Miscellaneous assignments as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous experience in sealcoating and paint striping in a road construction or asphalt paving setting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Familiarity with project management software or tools, preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license required. Must meet insurability standard. The ability to tow trailers or transport equipment.
  • Additional Requirements: Ability to pass a drug test as part of a drug-free workplace policy.
  • Phone: Must have cell phone to clock in and out daily, log jobs, and follow other company communications.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed outdoors at residential, commercial, or municipal properties, depending on the project.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, heavy materials, and seasonal weather is common; some tasks may involve heights or confined spaces.
  • Schedule is typically Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime or weekend work during peak construction or landscaping seasons (spring through fall).
  • Rare but possible multi-day, out-of-town trips, including long-distance travel, and overnight stays.

Salary and Benefits

  • Pay Range: Starting wage aligns with local non-union standards (apart from prevailing wage jobs) and is commensurate with experience, versatility, and additional skills.
  • Benefits:
    • Medical-partial percentage paid by the company after 60 days,
    • Dental and vision after 60 days,
    • 401K with a company match after 6 months of employment,
    • Vesting PTO immediately, along with other ancillary benefits,
    • 90 day probation period.
