Job Title: Bar Manager
Location: Washington, DC
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $60,000 – $70,000 per year (or hourly + bar shifts, depending on experience)
Job Summary
A high-volume, full-service restaurant is seeking an experienced Bar Manager to oversee all bar operations. This role is responsible for managing staff, maintaining beverage quality and service standards, controlling inventory and costs, and ensuring efficient day-to-day bar operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily bar operations and lead bar staff
- Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate team members
- Maintain beverage quality, service standards, and cleanliness
- Collaborate with management to develop cocktail menus and beverage offerings
- Monitor inventory and order liquor, beer, wine, and supplies
- Oversee cash handling and bar financial procedures
- Maintain vendor relationships and check deliveries for accuracy
- Implement cost controls and strategies to maximize sales
- Ensure compliance with alcohol service laws and licensing regulations
Qualifications
- Experience managing a bar or beverage program
- Strong knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
- Leadership and team management skills
- Knowledge of inventory control, budgeting, and basic accounting
- Familiarity with bar POS systems and standard computer applications
- Ability to obtain required alcohol service certifications (e.g., TIPS)
