Job Title: Manufacturing & Fabrication Shop Floor Supervisor
Location: inSolves - Piketon, Ohio
Status: Full-Time
Position Overview
The Manufacturing & Fabrication Shop Floor Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of welding, fabrication and assembly team members. This is a hands-on role and involves ensuring that all welding fabrication and assembly tasks are completed in accordance with drawing(s), specification(s), industry standards, focused on safely completing projects at the highest quality within the defined timeframe. This position is also responsible for maintaining safety standards, training employees, team member planning, production planning and ensuring that equipment is properly maintained.
Manufacturing & Fabrication Shop Floor Supervisor Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains staff by directing, orienting and training Shop employees, developing personal and professional growth opportunities.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Provide leadership and direction to the shop team.
- Lead and supervise a team of welders, fabricators, and apprentices, providing guidance, support, and direction on daily tasks.
- Assign tasks based on project requirements, team skills, and deadlines.
- Ensure that all team members adhere to safety protocols, quality standards, and company policies.
- Oversee the fabrication and welding of steel, and other metals according to drawings, specifications and industry standards.
- Inspect work to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications, adjusting as needed.
- Assist with complex welding and fabrication tasks as necessary, serving as a hands-on leader.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of daily work schedules, ensuring that production goals are met.
- Implement and maintain quality control processes, including regular checks on welding integrity, product dimensions, assembly quality including product finishing.
- Train and mentor new employees and apprentices in welding techniques and safety practices.
- Evaluate the performance of team members on a timely basis, providing feedback, coaching, and additional training as needed.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
- Supports the production of shop drawings to supplement project production plans.
- Enforce strict adherence to all safety regulations and protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
Required Skills/Experience
- 8-10 years relevant experience
- Experience operating manual fabrication equipment
- Ability to read blueprints
- Deep knowledge of welding and cutting processes
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and safely maneuver nearby
- Experience operating and setting multiple types of welding equipment · Have both verbal and written strong communication skills
- Able to bend, kneel, squat, crouch, crawl, balance, and stoop
- Have a welding experience in the manufacturing, construction, fabrication, and pipe industries
- Possess time management and organization skills
- Have the ability to work both as a team member and team leader
- Possessing knowledge of welding and different metal types
- Skills to maintain the flow of work within the unit using independent judgment in solving complex or unusual problems
- Strong interpersonal skills and written communication skills to interface with employees, management and customers/outside representatives
- Demonstrate continuous improvement of a well-organized and safe environment for all workspaces.
Working Conditions
Work in an office at an indoor manufacturing facility. May also work at off-project sites representing the organization at various types of locations throughout the community for business purposes. Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed.
Ability to perform sedentary to light work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (any exertion of force/lifting greater than 45 pounds requires usage of a two person “buddy system”), non-repetitive, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly, repetitive; performing such activities as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching.
