Job Description\n
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position with night shifts, CA RN license, and the ability to float to TICU.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
- Work in the Surgical ICU (SICU) with required floating to Trauma ICU (TICU) in an acute hospital setting
- Both SICU and TICU are Trauma Level 2 units caring for post-surgical and trauma patients
- SICU patient population includes vascular, thoracic, and abdominal surgeries and cases involving CRRT and ECMO
- TICU patient population includes trauma cases, CRRT, rapid infusers, line insertions, and IABP patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2 depending on acuity
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and rotating holiday requirements
- Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips and manage vents
- Cerner is the EMR used in both units and experience is required
- Travelers are first to float and may float to other Sacramento facilities if needed
- Report is done at the bedside at 6:45 pm, schedules are released in 4-week blocks, and self-scheduling is practiced but finalized by management
- Responsibilities include caring for surgical and trauma ICU patients, handling CRRT, ECMO, vent management, and line placements
- Must rotate holiday coverage with core staff
- Navy scrubs required; acceptable undershirts are navy, white, or black, and scrub jackets must also be navy
- Floor orientation lasts 1-2 days with a preceptor
- Interdisciplinary rounds are part of daily workflow in TICU
- Travelers cannot have been directly employed by CHI, Dignity, or other CommonSpirit facilities in the past year
- First to float policy applies for travelers
- Testing on dysrhythmia and sterile technique may be required during orientation

- Active CA RN license required at time of consideration (pending license not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience with surgical patients
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS; TNCC preferred for TICU
- Experience with post-op vascular, thoracic, and abdominal surgeries
- Ability to read and interpret EKG strips
- Must submit two professional references: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
- Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
