Job Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Avionics Instructor to deliver high-quality instruction aligned with the Florida Department of Education’s curriculum standards for the Avionics Systems Technician program. The instructor will prepare students for employment as avionics installation and repair technicians by teaching technical skills, safety practices, communication, and employability skills through classroom and hands-on laboratory activities. Applicants are not required to have a teaching certificate. The school will work with the newly hired instructor to gain teaching credentials.
Responsibilities:
Deliver course content according to the Florida Department of Education’s curriculum framework for all six occupational completion points, including foundational electronics, electrical systems, analog and digital circuits, avionic systems installation, radio communication, navigation, radar, and aircraft safety systems.
Develop and implement lesson plans, assessments, and laboratory activities that meet industry standards and prepare students for certification/licensing exams.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices during all instructional activities.
Facilitate student understanding of complex technical concepts such as aircraft wiring, circuits, power systems, avionics installation, data bus systems, radar, and communications systems.
Participate in curriculum development, review, and continuous improvement to keep instructional content current with emerging technologies and industry standards.
Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to support learning and skill development.
Incorporate soft skills training including communication, teamwork, leadership, and employability skills into the classroom environment.
Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and laboratory activities.
Collaborate with industry partners, CTSO (SkillsUSA), and other stakeholders to enhance program relevance and job readiness.
Stay updated on national and industry standards through resources like FAA and ETA-I websites, and align instructional practices accordingly.
Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that encourages student success.
Requirements:
A minimum of 2 years of experience in the aviation industry or 2 years of related industry and/or teaching experience, specifically in avionics installation, repair, or maintenance.
Teacher certification in accordance with Florida Department of Education requirements for vocational education or the ability to obtain certification. The school will work with the newly hired instructor to gain teaching credentials.
Demonstrated expertise in avionics electronics, circuits, wiring, data bus systems, communication, navigation, radar, and safety systems. Commitment to student success, safety, and industry standards.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and effectively.
