Recreational Therapist – PACE Program

Full-Time | San Francisco, CA

Estimated Pay Range: $34.37 – $38.85/hour

Role Overview

We are hiring a Recreational Therapist to lead and deliver a comprehensive therapeutic recreation program for PACE participants. This role is central to enhancing quality of life for older adults through individualized and group-based recreational therapy, social engagement, and community integration. You’ll work closely with an interdisciplinary care team to support participants’ physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being in a culturally responsive environment.


What You’ll Do

  • Design, coordinate, and implement daily recreational and social programming in the PACE Day Center
  • Conduct participant assessments to identify care needs, preferences, and therapeutic goals
  • Establish and monitor individualized recreation-related goals as part of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) care plan
  • Lead and oversee group and individual activities, community outings, holiday events, and special programs
  • Collaborate with the Center Manager to ensure a safe, engaging day room environment and mitigate risk factors (e.g., falls, wandering)
  • Supervise and provide leadership to recreation aides and volunteers
  • Build partnerships with community organizations, instructors, and performers to enhance programming
  • Document assessments, progress notes, and updates in Epic accurately and efficiently
  • Communicate changes in participant condition to the IDT, caregivers, and clinical staff as needed


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreational Therapy from an accredited institution or Bachelor’s degree in Recreation with a specialization in Therapeutic Recreation
  • Current BLS and First Aid certification
  • Knowledge of social and recreational programming tailored to older adult populations
  • Fluency in English and Chinese (Cantonese) — required
