In this opportunity, you'll be based in a blended cardiac and neuro stepdown unit within a leading teaching hospital, exposing you to best practices and innovative care models. Working alongside seasoned leaders—including a unit manager with over two decades of experience and outstanding retention—you’ll collaborate with knowledgeable peers while precepting students and new hires, expanding your skills and resume.

Schedule:

  • 13-week assignment
  • 36 guaranteed hours per week
  • 12-hour night shifts (6:30pm-7:00am)
  • Rotating weekends: 3 out of every 6 weeks
  • Every other holiday
  • Bi-weekly orientation start dates

What you’ll need:

  • Active, current compact state RN license
  • AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • 2+ years recent Stepdown experience plus 1 travel contract, or 5+ years strong Stepdown if no travel experience
  • Recent Epic charting proficiency (EPIC checkoff required)
  • Advanced skills in telemetry/12-lead EKG, post-cardiac procedure care, initiation/titration of specific drips, neuro assessment, and sepsis/chest tube management
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking

Key responsibilities:

  • Care for diverse patient populations: cardiac interventions, neuro, sepsis, DKA
  • Collaborate in a 19-bed, blended unit environment
  • Float between local campuses as needed (advance notice provided)
  • Mentor and precept new staff and students
  • Adapt to evolving protocols in a teaching hospital setting
