Health Unit Coordinator

This position is Monday- Friday

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Health Unit Coordinator to join our team at Medical Suites at Oak Creek in Wisconsin. As a Health Unit Coordinator, you will serve as a liaison between physicians, residents, and medical staff, providing excellent customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of our skilled nursing and rehabilitation community. Responsibilities

  • Work as a liaison between physicians, residents, and medical staff to ensure effective communication and coordination of patient care

  • Compile residents' medical charts and schedule diagnostic tests and appointments

  • Transcribe physicians' orders, reports, and prescriptions accurately and efficiently

  • Assist with completing admission and discharge forms, as well as other administrative tasks as needed

  • Answer phones and transfer calls when necessary, providing excellent customer service to residents, families, and visitors

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the facility

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day, using proper body mechanics to bend, stoop, turn, stretch, and reach above the shoulders

  • Must be able to cope with the mental, emotional, and physical stress of the position

  • Must be able to observe, listen, and communicate effectively

  • Must function independently, with flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, support agencies, and outside agencies

  • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility

Qualifications

  • Good organizational and communication skills

  • Knowledge of standard precautions and use of protective instruments

  • Knowledge and high level of accuracy of medical terminology

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Knowledge of PCC helpful, but not required

  • Excellent customer service skills
