Health Information Technician
Location: Columbia Station, OH
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:42 AM – 3:42 PM
Pay: $17.00
No weekends or holidays
This position is located at a Correctional Facility.
Position Summary
Seeking a Health Information Technician to support the management, organization, and confidentiality of patient health information. This role involves compiling, reviewing, and filing medical records, preparing reports, and assisting with the administrative needs of a busy healthcare office. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills, proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of six staff members.
Key Responsibilities

Compile, review, and organize medical records for accuracy and completeness.

Prepare and type health information forms, including new admission charts and requests for specific reports or certificates.

Scan documents into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and maintain digital and physical filing systems.

Compile and type statistical reports (e.g., daily/monthly census, admissions, discharges, length of stay).

File reports into patient records, record information in logs, and retrieve information as needed.

Provide requested information from health records in compliance with confidentiality and privacy regulations.

Coordinate with other departments regarding health record procedures and documentation needs.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

3 courses or 9 months of experience in records management.

1 course or 3 months of experience in medical terminology.

1 course or 3 months of experience in typing.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required; Electronic Health Record experience preferred (training provided).

Strong administrative, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to handle confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA and regulatory standards.
Additional Details

Training: On-the-job training will be provided for EHR systems.

Work Environment: Collaborative office setting working with/for six other staff members.

Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, type, and handle medical records for extended periods.
