Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for a Teachers for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support a newly enrolled Kindergarten student in Eastchester, NY. This role involves providing specialized instruction tailored to the needs of visually impaired young learners. The position requires dedicated travel to the student's location within the area and focuses on delivering high-quality educational support.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering one hour of direct instruction daily to a Kindergarten student with visual impairment.
- Conducting two hours of weekly consultations with the students classroom teacher to ensure effective integration of support strategies.
- Developing and implementing individualized learning plans that address the student's unique needs.
- Utilizing specialized teaching techniques and materials for visually impaired learners.
- Monitoring and documenting student progress, adjusting teaching methods as needed.
- Collaborating with school staff and families to promote student success.
Qualifications:
- Certified Teachers for the Visually Impaired (TVI) credential or equivalent certification.
- Experience working with visually impaired students, preferably at the early childhood or elementary level.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with teachers and families.
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Willingness and ability to travel within the Eastchester, NY area to provide services.
