Southtowns Fireplace, a long-established family-owned fireplace store in Hamburg, NY, is seeking an experienced gas fireplace installer to join our team. We specialize in residential installations of gas inserts, direct-vent systems, and fireplace upgrades across the Southtowns.

We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, work independently, and deliver high-quality, code-compliant installations with excellent customer interaction.

As a Fireplace Installer, you will install:

• Gas inserts (e.g., Regency U31-NG10 and similar models)

• Direct-vent gas fireplaces

• Venting systems

• Trim packages, surrounds, blowers, and finishing components like remotes, etc.

This is a field-based role performing in-home residential installations and new build homes. You’ll work directly with customers and ensure every installation meets manufacturer guidelines and local codes.

Key Responsibilities

• Install gas fireplace inserts and direct-vent fireplaces with precision and adherence to manufacturer instructions

• Run and connect venting systems

• Connect gas lines, perform leak checks, and verify correct manifold pressures (NG/LP)

• Ensure all clearances to combustible materials meet code and manufacturer requirements

• Remove existing wood-burning or gas units when required

• Conduct final safety tests, startup procedures, and customer walkthroughs

• Troubleshoot installation issues and perform light service adjustments

• Maintain a clean, organized job site and professional appearance

• Document installations, serial numbers, and job notes

• Safely lift and move fireplaces, liners, and vent sections

• Communicate effectively with customers and the office team

Required Experience

Applicants MUST have experience in at least one of the following:

• Fireplace installation (gas inserts or direct-vent systems)

• Hearth appliance installation

• Professional chimney/liner installation

• HVAC installation involving gas appliances

• Gas fitting experience with vented appliances

Minimum Requirements:

• 1–2+ years experience installing fireplaces or equivalent vented appliances

• Strong knowledge of venting, gas connections, and clearance requirements

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation

• Comfortable working on ladders and rooftops

• Ability to lift 75+ lbs with assistance

We strongly prefer applicants with fireplace installation experience — but if you’re very handy, quick to learn, and have solid experience in trades like HVAC, plumbing, chimney, or general construction, we still encourage you to apply.
